The mission of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Educational Advancement Foundation is to promote lifelong learning! This is accomplished by securing charitable contributions, gifts and endowed funds to award scholarships, fellowships and grants. Since our founding, we have given nearly $10 million in scholarship and community assistance awards.
Every gift makes a difference! When you give to EAF, even the smallest donation can have a positive impact on the work we do to make learning a life-long endeavor. Our awards can be used for tuition, housing, school supplies, transportation and other school-related expenses, allowing for greater access, stability, and support throughout a student’s academic journey!
The Educational Advancement Foundation, Inc. (EAF) was established by the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority in 1980. We are a not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization created to fill a void in education funding. Our mission is to promote lifelong learning, which we accomplish by awarding scholarships, fellowships and grants.
We have awarded nearly $10 million in scholarships to students since 1980. In 2024, we
- Supported scholars with average GPA of 3.54
- Provided 2,157 awards to deserving students
- Funded over 7,590 credit hours of classes
In addition, generous individual donations and partnerships with companies like Marriott International, The Coca-Cola Company, and Amazon strengthen our ability to support students’ success. Through our numerous scholarships, endowments, and fellowships, we enable students to complete their degrees, achieve their goals, and build their futures.
Our Board of Directors is comprised of volunteers who believe in prudent management. We are also aided by professional financial advisors to assist us in investment decision making. We have an eight-person professional staff to serve our constituents, and our administrative costs are less than 10% of our total income.
