How do you help people in my community?

Donors everywhere want to help people in need, but don’t always know the most efficient, effective manner. We make it easy for you to help people with mobility challenges.  In addition, we have distributed over 27,000 wheelchairs within the USA, although our main focus is on developing countries where the need is so great and where there is a severe lack of resources, unlike in the U.S. where there are many sources for wheelchairs.

Why do you need my support?

Each gift, no matter how big or small, is pooled together with others to help purchase and deliver wheelchairs to people in great need. A gift of $75 can purchase and deliver a brand new wheelchair, immediately changing the life of a person in need, bringing hope, mobility and freedom!  A similar wheelchair purchased alone in the US costs at least $300, but by purchasing in large volume and working with our sources, we are able to purchase at a lower cost.

How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?

We work hard to keep expenses in check, yet provide the greatest impact in addressing worldwide immobility. The Wheelchair Foundation is an IRS tax exempt nonprofit (Fed Tax ID # 94-3353881). We file an annual IRS Form 990.  We are reviewed annually through an independent audit. We are certified by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management to participate as a choice in the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), the workplace giving campaign for every U.S. government employee, whether civilian or military. 

Can I Volunteer? How?

You can be a volunteer with the Wheelchair Foundation in the following ways:

• Spread the word!  Mentioning our work to your family, friends, neighbors, church groups, co-workers, school alumni, and other people you know. We’d be happy to provide brochures, newsletters, DVDs for you to share. Tell everyone you know that you are now a part of the most ambitious relief mission of its kind. Educate yourself about the Wheelchair Foundation by going to our website, and then educate others. By spreading the word, more people will help fight immobility.
• Have a fundraiser! A dinner or cocktail party in your home can serve as a venue to tell people about helping others by supporting the Wheelchair Foundation. We will supply everything you need to help us change the world, including donation forms, our newsletters and brochures.
• Help us seek out Corporate or Club Sponsorship! Help us find corporations and clubs that have interests in countries that need our help. We can target their sponsorship to specific countries and needs, and will embroider their logo on the wheelchair identifying the sponsor of an entire 280-wheelchair container. They will be heroes, and so many people will be given a new lease on life.
