VFW Foundation

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Foundation is designed to support programs and services that secure, manage and distribute resources to improve the lives of veterans, military service personnel and their families.

How do you help people in my community?

All VFW Foundation programs are national. We are currently helping troops and their families in communities all across America such as yours!

Why do you need my support?

Every gift no matter the size makes a difference. Be assured that your donation will help us perform our mission to the best of our organizational capacity. Our programs truly make a difference!

The VFW Foundation recently received a letter from a Marine stationed in Iraq thanking us for free long-distance telephone service so he could call home and talk with his wife and two small children on a regular basis. He wanted the VFW Foundation to know this keeps his morale high. He ended the letter by stating: “Thank you for helping out when no one else would or could. When my wife and kids pick up the telephone, hearing their voice on the line makes me so grateful for your incredible gift! Please also thank those Americans who contribute, my buddies and I know that we are not forgotten.”

How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?

The VFW Foundation, established in 1996, has a long-history of responsible program and financial  management.

It is important to note that approximately .83 cents out of every donated dollar goes to direct program services (not administrative or other costs). We believe this is quite extraordinary for a nonprofit organization.

Can I Volunteer? How?

Call your local VFW Post to volunteer. Common activities include visiting sick and wounded military members at local VA medical centers; assembling care packages for troops in Iraq and Afghanistan that boost their morale; bringing food, toys and other supplies to military families; etc.
