Provides Christian training, orphan care, education (marriage, family, AIDS, STDs, alcohol and drugs) and other aid to children, youth and families in orphanages, schools, camps and conferences in Eastern Europe.
How do you help people in my community?
Aid to Children, Youth, and Families provides the expertise for those in local communities who have a heart to help Christians in Eastern Europe. Our organization provides the coordination for Americans prudently manage the resources God has given them to make a significant difference in the lives of Eastern European children, youth, and those working with them.
Why do you need my support?
Our philosophy is to “teach people to fish” rather than to feed them. Aid to Children, Youth, and Families empowers an army of national workers to do ministry throughout their own countries. What would cost tens of thousands of dollars for one American missionary costs a fraction of this for a national missionary in his or her own country.
Our vision is to build bridges between Americans and Eastern Europeans, mobilize churches desiring to address needs in Eastern Europe, and therefore give hope and purpose to the next generation in these formerly Communist countries. We provide the expertise for Americans to partner with Eastern Europeans. Because of our partnership approach, Americans get to know the Eastern Europeans on a personal level, and typically this results in years of meaningful interactions and opportunities for ministry that make a huge difference in the lives of the Americans as well as the Eastern Europeans. Our focus and orientation is field-driven—we purpose to cultivate and empower national leaders, not deliver people and ideas that we in the west deem appropriate.
How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?
Our core purpose is to enable Eastern European nations to reach out to their own people and offer them help, encouragement, and hope. Every expenditure we make is weighed and measured with the goal of minimum cost and maximum return. Our goal is to guide each of our seven field offices toward self-sufficiency. Each office is registered as a non-profit entity with its own board of directors in its own country. Similarly, our U.S. office undergoes a yearly audit and we are recognized by the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability as a fiscally responsible charity. We are accountable to a Board of Directors made up of Christian business experts who review our financial statements on a monthly basis. Our U.S. office keeps overhead to a minimum, with only six full-time employees whose salaries are aligned with the average community standard for comparable non-profit positions. We insure that each donation funds the work for the country/purpose for which it is designated, and our donors receive receipts for every donation given. In our quest to be transparent with our financial partners, we provide a variety of communications (print and digital) and we encourage field visits, and our Eastern European leaders make personal contact with our partners here in the U.S. on a regular basis.
Can I Volunteer? How?
Yes, we need people willing to help link us with U.S. churches and other groups/agencies interested in partnering with us in Eastern Europe. We regularly send individuals and groups on short-term missions to support our teams in a number of ways. Here in the U.S. we welcome volunteer help in identifying speaking opportunities, hosting, and providing transportation for our European nationals as they travel in various regions around the country. We welcome people to pray about specific ministry needs as they arise. Additionally, we have consistent need for volunteers in a number of areas at our Colorado Springs office. You can volunteer by visiting our website at ww.newhopeinternational.org for more information or by calling us at 800-297-9591.
