orphanCare International/Dillon International

Children -- abandoned, alone, hungry -- OCI provides food, education and medical care for homeless children in underdeveloped and developing countries while offering adoption placement when possible.

Why do we exist?

Did you know…? • Over 1 million children have been left orphaned because of war over the past decade. • There are over 100 million street children worldwide with no parent to care for them. • Approximately 9,900,000 children worldwide, who are under the age of 5, die each year from preventable diseases. • Over 2 million couples in the U.S. desire to adopt a child but don’t meet the requirements for conventional adoption avenues. orphanCare International (aka Dillon International) exists to meet the daily survival needs of homeless children in developing countries and to find avenues to provide a better life for these children. We provide a variety of services designed to meet children’s needs including on-going humanitarian aid for basic living and educational needs, promoting adoption within a child’s birth country, facilitating intercountry adoption with U.S. families, and offering quality post-adoption support. What sets us apart? Some would say it is our passion for developing a positive self-identity in each adopted child through our post-adoption services such as heritage camps and birthland tours. Others have said that it is because 30% of our staff are also adoptive families and so our agency staff are more sensitive to the needs of waiting children and families. We believe what sets us apart is our commitment to children and how best we can meet their needs today and in the future.

What have you accomplished?

Currently, orphanCare International (along with Dillon International) serves over 26,000 children and families each year in seven countries. Those countries include South Korea, the People’s Republic of China, India, Haiti, Guatemala, Vietnam and the United States. Moreover, during the past 35 years we have made a difference in 5,500 children’s lives. From raising special funds for cleft lip/palate surgeries for children in a remote community of China to underwriting an orphanage and staff person in Vietnam, orphanCare International makes a commitment to improve the lives of children. One such child is named Olivia. When she and her twin sister were brought to Dillon’s Babies Home in the Vinh Long province of Vietnam, they were not given much hope for survival. Olivia’s twin sister didn’t live much longer and our orphanage director had little hope for Olivia. But she took her home with her and nursed and cared for Olivia as if she were her own daughter. Olivia surprised everyone and today is a thriving, happy toddler surrounded by a loving family in Arkansas. Olivia would not have survived to become the much loved daughter of an Arkansas family had it not been for the commitment that orphanCare International (aka Dillon International) makes to invest its financial resources in saving children’s lives and giving them a better future.

How do you help people in my community? Why do you need my support?
How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it? Can I Volunteer? How?
