Wycliffe Bible Translators

Without access to Scripture in your language, life can seem hopeless. WYCLIFFE offers hope by creating language tools, teaching literacy and translating the Bible worldwide. Help open doors. Change lives!

How do you help people in my community?

Wycliffe works all around the world. Currently, our efforts serve language communities of more than 90 countries. Most of the languages still needing translation are minority languages, spoken by small people groups that may struggle to maintain their identity in the shadow of a majority culture. These communities are often in remote areas, with no written language. Many live in poverty and disease.  Low literacy rates in majority languages lead to a susceptibility to exploitation.

Marginalized people groups often experience an increased sense of self-worth through Wycliffe’s work.  The benefits of translation and literacy are many. They include better health as a result of access to medical information, economic growth due to increased marketability and skills, and the preservation of culture thanks to documentation and language recognition.

Most importantly, Bible translation can bring people everywhere closer to God Himself---the One who transforms hearts.  The Bible tells the story of God’s love, revealing the Savior who offers forgiveness, hope, peace and the power to live a new life.

Why do you need my support?

Reaching the last languages with God’s Word requires an enormous amount of resources. In response to these needs, in November 2008 Wycliffe USA launched the Last Languages Campaign—a strategic commitment to raise our share of the resources needed to accomplish Vision 2025. More than $1 billion is needed to reach the last languages with God’s Word.

How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?

Wycliffe is a charter member of the Evangelical Council of Financial Accountability (ECFA). This council ensures that Christ-centered organizations maintain the highest standards of financial stewardship. Find out more about our ECFA membership at www.ecfa.org.
