As the leading provider of HIV/AIDS services in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, thousands turn to us each year for medical and mental health treatment, addictions treatment and social support.
Why do we exist?
Whitman-Walker Clinic is a non-profit community-based health organization serving the Washington, D.C. metropolitan region. Our Clinic is comprised of diverse volunteers and staff who provide or facilitate the delivery of high quality, comprehensive, accessible health care and community services. Whitman-Walker Clinic is especially committed to ending the suffering of all those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.
We provide a comprehensive range of services for those living with HIV/AIDS including primary medical care (including optical and dental), mental health and addictions treatment, an at-cost pharmacy, case management, legal services, a food bank, housing assistance or direct housing, testing and counseling and education and prevention services. And we provide these services to residents of DC, Northern Virginia and Suburban Maryland.
What have you accomplished?
In our nearly 30 years of existence, Whitman-Walker has reached hundreds of thousands of people in the DC area with our health care services. More than 5,000 people a year access our services. An additional 5,000+ receive HIV testing through us each year. Many of our clients have no insurance and cannot afford medical care elsewhere.
