WETA provides compelling, in-depth programs that not only enrich and enlighten but also inspire many to become informed and vital contributors to their communities.
How do you help people in my community?
WETA provides educational, inspirational, informative television and radio programs to all segments of our community, young and old alike. From Sesame Street and Word Girl to The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, NOVA, Nature, Ken Burns' The WAR, Washington Week, British comedies, Great Performances and beautiful classical music, we bring commercial-free programs on local, national, and international content to everyone.
Why do you need my support?
Broadcasting and producing television and radio programs is expensive, but the quality, depth and value of our programs to the community is invaluable. WETA counts on individual viewers and listeners for about half of its day-to-day operating funds. It's a mutual pact between the audience and station -- individual support for great programs!
How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?
WETA's cost of fundraising consistently falls within the CFC 10 accountability standards, most importantly perhaps, in spending well less than 25 percent of contributions on development activity. We acheive this through careful planning, review and continual assessment of expenses in order to find the most cost-effective means of doing business.
Can I Volunteer? How?
WETA counts on volunteers for office duties such as mail stuffing, answering pledge phones, data input and other activities. For more information on volunteering, send an email to volunteer@weta.com, or call (703) 998-2724.
