Why do we exist?

State Veterans Homes “Care for America’s Heroes” with quality health care for 30,000 elderly and disabled veterans at 140 locations nationally.  The State Veterans Homes System is a partner of the Veterans Administration (U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs) and meets 53% of the VA’s long term care need.

70% of State Veteran Home residents served in WWII; 15% in the Korean War and 15% in the Vietnam War.  Iraq casualties are soon to arrive.

What have you accomplished?

The Veterans Homes Foundation enhances the quality of life for State Veterans Home residents through a national nurse training program and a crime prevention/community safety program.  We are also the partner of the National Association of State Veterans Homes in providing education and professional development to Home administrators.

In addition, our grants for quality-of-life needs range from contributions to Indigent Veteran Funds to the purchase of ice cream

machines and Alzheimer’s therapy equipment.

How do you help people in my community? Why do you need my support?
How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it? Can I Volunteer? How?
