Vegan Outreach

Animals suffer terribly in today’s factory farms. We convert people to vegetarianism by handing our powerful booklets to thousands of pedestrians each day, focusing on college and high school students.

How do you help people in my community?

By providing people information about the hidden realities of factory farms and industrial slaughterhouse, Vegan Outreach allows people to make informed choices about the food they eat. We also provide detailed, honest, and complete nutritional information about how to pursue a cruelty-free diet.
 
Regardless of any other beliefs we hold and however else we choose to lead our lives, each of us can decide to act with kindness and compassion. Making humane choices is the ultimate affirmation of our humanity.

Why do you need my support?

Vegan Outreach is a small -- but growing -- organization. We don't yet have even a million dollar budget, but have distributed 1.6 million booklets already this year (Jan - Aug 2008); and a total of 8.7 million since 1996.
 
The rate of distribution is increasing every year, limited not by demand -- there are many individuals, student groups, and organizations who would like to distribute "as many as you can send" -- but by availability (i.e., resources for printing and distribution). Twenty dollars can allow us to send an box of booklets to one of our hundreds of volunteers for distribution.
 
As Vegan Outreach continues to reach more people every year, it is important to know that your donations don't go to build up a new monolithic bureaucracy. Rather, contributions hasten the day when Vegan Outreach is put out of business.

Because, of course, that is our goal - to bring about a society where Vegan Outreach is no longer needed, because animals are no longer tortured and butchered for the taste of their flesh.

How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?

In FY 06-07, income AND booklet distribution increased by the same amount; 56%. More money means more booklets distributed, leading to more vegetarians and fewer animals suffering on factory farms.

Our audit for fiscal year 07-08 is being prepared (Aug. 08), but the administrative and fundraising portion of our revenue was 7% in FY 06-07.
