Why do we exist?
The mission of Father Joe’s Villages is to promote and provide a comprehensive continuum of integrated services dedicated to impacting the immediate needs of our neighbors, and to assist in breaking the cycle of homelessness while respecting the dignity of the individuals we serve.
Many children today face rough challenges in life.
Toussaint Youth Villages, Inc. recognizes this. That is why the Toussaint Academy of the Arts and Sciences and "A Children's Village" are devoted to providing a safe haven for children who are unable, due to abuse, neglect or other circumstance, to live with their families. It is also why the Youth Camp & Retreat Center is committed to providing all youth a rural refuge away from the rigors of city life."
The Toussaint Academy of the Arts and Sciences (TAAS), http://www.toussaintacademy.org/index.html, located in downtown San Diego, offers nurturing and support to 35 young people, while giving them the tools they need to live happy, healthy and independent lives.
"A Children's Village” ( http://www.toussaintvillages.org/childrensvillage/index.html ) through the generous gift of the Stephen and Mary Birch Foundation, will be located at the Flying A Ranch –- a pastoral setting surrounded by rolling hills and sweeping mountain views in beautiful San Diego County. Currently under development, the ranch will serve as home to 200 children who are no longer able to live at home. It is a place where neglected children can discover a world of sunrises and have room to play, as well as the guidance and caring they need.
The Youth Camp & Retreat Center, located on 425 acres in scenic eastern San Diego County, will provide youth a much-needed opportunity to experience the great outdoors. Offering ropes courses, horseback riding, hiking, rock climbing, swimming, volleyball and basketball courts, soccer fields, and an archery range, this working ranch will help youngsters build confidence, encourage teamwork and foster an appreciation for nature's beauty.
