A national land conservation organization that conserves land for people to enjoy as parks, gardens and other natural places, ensuring livable communities for generations to come.
How do you help people in my community?
Somewhere nor far from where you live, The Trust for Public Land is helping communities conserve the lands they love—parks, playgrounds, working farms, forests and ranchlands, rivers and coasts, land to protect drinking water, and places to experience nature close at hand.
With 400 employees and more than 45 offices nationwide, TPL works with local communities to identify opportunities for park creation, secure park funding, and acquire parklands. TPL’s participatory design process includes residents, teachers, and schoolchildren, ensuring that parks meet community needs.
Why do you need my support?
Every day America loses 8,700 acres of open space. This crisis threatens human habitat, the health and well being of individuals and communities, the economy, and the environment.
Our cities and communities need far more parks, trails, gardens and recreation areas—places where urban dwellers—and in particular urban youth—can lead healthy lives and develop a meaningful relationship with the natural world. In some cities, as many as two out of three children literally have no place to play outdoors: no close-to-home parks, gardens, or playgrounds.
TPL seeks to address this critical need by creating parks where they are needed most, shaping the future of American cities—and American lives—for generations to come.
How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?
Year after year, The Wall Street Journal’s SmartMoney magazine, Money, Forbes, and The Chronicle of Philanthropy have all rated TPL among the most efficient charities in the United States for keeping fund-raising and operating costs low while meeting mission goals.
TPL’s work depends on the generous support of donors and volunteers who share our mission of conserving land for people.
