Sky Cross provides nonperishable food and some medical supplies to 30,000 very poor people in 43 locations along the Texas-Mexico border (41 in Mexico) to enable the children to attend school.
How do you help people in my community?
The Sky Cross ministry serves those very poor people on the Texas-Mexico border area (mostly Mexico), who were born into poverty and just try to survive day to day.
Why do you need my support?
The current Sky Cross budget is $120,000.00 annually for the purchase of non perishable food and some medical supplies (95% of the medical supplies is donated outright). This $120,000.00 feeds some 30,000 people annually. There are expenses involved in serving these poor, but they are paid for by Sky Cross volunteers. Sky Cross does not use publicly donated funds for expenses unless a donor specifically requests it. Although Sky Cross is changing and has changed the quality of life of thousands of poor, the need is huge and the serving continuous.
How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?
Sky Cross is a member of GuideStar, is audited annually, and is a listed charity for the Combined Federal Campaign. Sky Cross uses 100% of publicly donated funds to purchase non perishable food and some medical supplies. No one on the 11 member Board of Directors is on salary and Sky Cross volunteers pay all of the expenses of the ministry. These are the expenses an interested person would see on the Sky Cross Form 990, filed with the IRS annually and posted on the GuideStar website.
Can I Volunteer? How?
Sky Cross has physically present volunteers who handle the pickup and delivery of the food/medical supplies, conduct blanket and clothes drives, speak for Sky Cross at churches, handle the web site and administrative work, and pay the expenses for Sky Cross to operate. Sky Cross considers all funding donors, whether physically present or not, as volunteers…volunteers to improve the quality of life of the poor they serve with Sky Cross.
