Funds charitable programs for The Sierra Club to promote smart energy solutions, protect wildlife and habitat, stop pollution, build healthy communities, educate the public and ensure enforcement of environmental laws.
How do you help people in my community?
The Sierra Club Foundation serves as fiscal sponsor for Sierra Club chapters across the country. There are 64 Sierra Club Chapters and 390 local Sierra Club Groups located in every state and in many local communities. Your chapter offers opportunities for hikes and other outings, activism on local and state issues, and much more.
In addition, TSCF is funding Sierra Club's Safe and Healthy Communities conservation initiative. The overall goal of this campaign is to foster vibrant, healthy communities with clean water and clean air, and that are free from toxic chemical threats. The initial focus will be to work at the state and local level to protect sources of drinking water from pollution, and to address the largest sources of water pollution: sewage and storm water runoff. The campaign will make sure that the Clean Water Act and other laws are enforced to protect our sources of drinking water. We will focus our efforts on protecting headwaters streams and wetlands and eliminating harmful levels of nutrient pollution that threaten our drinking water supplies.
Why do you need my support?
With your support we can continue to fund organizations that preserve and protect the environment for our families and our future. With your help we can also continue to win victories for the environment on the local and national level.
We will build coalitions with community groups, labor organizations and churches to fight for environmental justice in all neighborhoods.
We will protect the global environment and preserve natural resources for future generations by slowing population growth and reducing wasteful consumption in the context of social and economic equity.
We will promote smarter planning and transportation policies that improve our air and water quality, preserve natural areas, and strengthen communities.
How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?
88 cents of every dollar you give to The Sierra Club Foundation goes to support the protection of the environment. TSCF's record of achievement, through grants to the Sierra Club and other organizations, is unmatched by any organization funding grassroots environmental programs on a national and local basis. The Sierra Club Foundation uses a standard reporting format that requires our grantees to evaluate the success of their program in respect to specifically established goals and objectives.
Can I Volunteer? How?
There are volunteer opportunities at every Sierra Club Chapter and Group. Call you local Chapter for more information on how to get involved.
