Honest, transparent and effective government. We work with federal employees toward this goal by fighting defense contractor fraud, political cronyism, corrupt decisions and other misconduct.
How do you help people in my community?
POGO works to keep the Federal Government accountable to the citizenry. We have worked with many Federal employees over the years, allowing them to bring forward examples of waste, fraud and abuse while protecting their anonymity, allowing them to keep their jobs and professional standing. One such example is a senior procurement official who has worked with POGO over many years tackling fraud and abuse in federal contracting, particularly for the military. On his own personal time, he has invested hundreds of hours helping us to expose defense contractor ripoffs and shady deals like the Air Force’s C-17 kickback scheme exposed by POGO earlier this year on the front page of the New York Times (see “POGO in the News” to learn more). Here’s a testimonial he recently shared with us: “POGO sheds light on the unholy alliance that exists between government agencies and contractors. At times, it seem there is no one out there fighting for good government except POGO.”
Why do you need my support?
POGO often battles large corporations and confronts the federal government both of which spend more in one hour than POGO spends in one year. Each and every gift no matter the size is needed and appreciated. The Project on Government Oversight is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and any contribution to POGO is tax deductible.
How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?
POGO successfully meets all the IRS standards to maintain our non-profit status, and has done so for the past 20 years. As an organization dedicated to ending waste, fraud and abuse in the Federal government, we are especially mindful of careful spending.
