Planned Parenthood of San Diego and Riverside Counties ensures broad public access to reproductive healthcare through direct service, education and advocacy. Nineteen centers offering a full range of birth control.
How do you help people in my community?
In addition to our educational services offered throughout San Diego & Riverside Counties we have clinics in Chula Vista, City Heights, College Area, Euclid Area, Downtown, Kearny Mesa, Mission Valley, Mission Beach, Pacific Beach, El Cajon, Carlsbad, Escondido, Mira Mesa, Coachella Valley, Moreno Valley, Rancho Mirage, & Riverside. We see a diverse group of patients in terms of age & income level.
Why do you need my support?
We greatly appreciate any donation to our organization, whether it is a cash donation, your time volunteering, or your support of PPSDRC in community dialogues. Please see volunteer opportunities below. Cash donations are either restricted towards a specific program designated by the donor, or are used towards subsidizing our general operating costs which make all of our programs possible. Our organization depends on donations in order to provide our services to the public, in particular programs that do not generate money such as Education and Training, Public Affairs and Advocacy. Individuals provide 70% of our donations and the remaining 30% come from foundations and government grants.
PPSDRC has just completed a $16 million capital campaign, and is moving into the next stage of strategic planning for the future. We currently have four Board-designated task forces consisting of volunteers and staff which are developing our plan for the years to come. These task forces are: Financial Sustainability, Internal Organizational Excellence, Tailoring Our Services to Meet Community Need, and Creating Social Change & Public Awareness.
How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?
We maintain an active Board of Directors & Executive Staff, many of whom have been with PPSDRC for over 25 years. Our leaders are experienced, and our staff/Board relationships provide a system of checks and balances along with a variety of Board Advisory Committees dedicated to a variety of program areas such as Philanthropy, Medical, and Regionalization. Additionally, our clinic services and their effectiveness are evaluated by the Planned Parenthood of America Certification Team. This process is comprised of a detailed, prescribed list of criteria for evaluating medical services. The certification awarded can be for one, two, three or four years, depending on the quality of the programs as determined by the evaluation. PPSDRC most recent evaluation, in 2008 was for 4 years, reflecting the high quality of our clinical services.
Can I Volunteer? How?
Once a month we have a volunteer night, where our supporters meet to work on a variety of projects at our administration building. We are also always seeking individuals who can help us at various events throughout the community. Please visit our website at www.planned.org for a list of volunteer opportunities including positions in administrative support, clinic advocacy, community outreach, human resources, marketing, and public affairs.
