Since 1976, we have provided critical assistance and information to thousands of individuals with pension problems and questions, and championed policies that have increased retirement security for American workers. 202-296-3776
How do you help people in my community?
If friends or family members with pension problems live or work in one of the 18 states served by a pension counseling project, they could benefit from the technical assistance we provide to the projects. If they live outside a pension counseling area, we would seek to help them exercise their pension rights directly or through the National Pension Lawyers Network we created.
Why do you need my support?
The Pension Rights Center is a small group that has taken on an enormous task. We can only succeed if we have the support of people who believe in our mission of promoting and protecting the income security of current and future retirees. Contributions will be treated with care, and used efficiently and effectively.
We are committed to seeking new ways of solving today’s problems that will ensure that all Americans have the income they need when they retire. With your help, we will move forward to find solutions, both through direct assistance and at the public policy level.
• To help individuals, we are continuing to build a nationwide pension assistance system so that everyone with a retirement plan question or problem has help in navigating the often bewildering pension maze.
• To increase pension coverage, we are working with partnering organizations to promote the implementation of innovative proposals that have the potential to help millions more Americans enjoy a secure retirement.
In the coming months, we will also be working with retiree, employee, and women’s groups to address pension inequities, particularly those affecting older workers and women, and on an ambitious new initiative to develop practical long-range retirement policies.
How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?
• Our annual operating budget is under $2 million, yet we have a huge impact.
• We keep administrative and fundraising expenses to a minimum. According to our official Form 990 filed with the IRS, only 2.6% of revenue was spent on management and fundraising.
• Our Board of Directors and Chief Financial Officer closely monitor our annual budget and income and expenses.
• We are audited every year by an outside accounting firm.
Can I Volunteer? How?
Retired federal employees with pension expertise provide invaluable input both to the Center’s pension assistance and to our public policy activities. To volunteer send a résumé to jobs@pensionrights.org
