Voice of the American people in the struggle to protect wildlife, majestic scenery, history and culture in parks from Yellowstone to Gettysburg. Fights air and water pollution, overdevelopment and noise.
Why do we exist?
The mission of the National Parks and Conservation Association is to protect and improve the quality of the National Park System and to promote an understanding, appreciation, and sense of personal commitment to parklands. NPCA is America's only nonprofit citizen organization dedicated solely to protecting, preserving, and enhancing the U.S. National Park System.
What have you accomplished?
In the past few years, NPCA has helped preserve more than 1.4 million acres under the California Desert Protection Act; helped to create the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve; worked to prevent a massive gold, silver, and copper mine from being built outside Yellowstone National Park; and ensured passage of a sweeping parks bill that makes nearly 60 long-overdue additions and improvements to the National Park System.
