National Alliance for Hispanic Health

We work for health for all through research, advocacy, scholarships and bilingual helplines for consumers and providers.  Major areas: environment, physical activity, diabetes, depression, HIV, cancer, Medicare and the uninsured.

How do you help people in my community?

Su Familia, The National Hispanic Family Health Helpline 1-866-783-2645, is a national helpline that offers consumers free reliable and confidential health information in Spanish and English. Callers speak to bilingual and culturally proficient information specialists and by providing their zip code can receive referral to one of over 20,000 local health providers, including community and migrant health centers.  Callers receive basic health information, referral to information sources for the health topic they have questions about, or consumer-friendly, bilingual Su Familia fact sheets. Fact sheets are currently available, both through the Helpline and on our website, for: Cancer, Cancer Treatment, Lung Cancer, Cervical Cancer, Prostate Cancer, Colorectal Cancer, Cardiovascular Disease, and Diabetes.

The National Hispanic Prenatal Helpline (NHPH) 1-800-504-7081, is designed for Hispanic women planning a pregnancy; Hispanic expectant mothers or mothers of newborns; partners, relatives or friends of expectant mothers; and providers working with Hispanic families. The bilingual (English and Spanish) Helpline has three main functions: 1) to answer questions about prenatal issues in both English and Spanish and in a culturally appropriate manner; 2) to give referrals to local prenatal care services that have the capability of serving Hispanic consumers; and 3) to send out written information to callers about prenatal issues in Spanish and English.

Why do you need my support?

Donations are critical to the support of current programs and the implementation of future ones; in addition they will increase the Alliance’s endowment and secure our efforts to help all our communities. We can only continue our work with your support.  Your contribution is key as we continue to move forward with our mission to improve the health and well-being of Hispanics.

How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?

Can I Volunteer? How?
