Improving the health, productivity and diversity of our National Forests and Grasslands through wildlife habitat conservation, watershed restoration, recreational enhancements and community-based forest stewardship programs.
Why do we exist?
Founded by Congressional charter in 1991, the National Forest Foundation (NFF) engages America in community-based and national programs that promote the health and public enjoyment of the 193-million-acre National Forest System. The NFF meets conservation needs across our National Forests by uniting concerned communities, organizations and individuals. The National Forest Foundation works to improve the health, productivity and diversity of our National Forests and Grasslands through wildlife habitat conservation, watershed restoration, recreational enhancements and community-based forest stewardship programs.
What have you accomplished?
The National Forest Foundation is the only conservation organization focused solely on our National Forest System. Comprised of 175 National Forests and Grasslands; 133,000 acres of trails; 35 million acres of Wilderness; and providing fresh water for over 123 million people ~ our National Forest System provides the resources we need to live, wild outdoors for adventure and renewal, and landscapes that bind us to our history and each other. With your help, NFF results add up:
- 6,000 trail miles repaired, improved and maintained.
- 63,000 volunteers engaged in stewardship projects.
- 2,680 stream miles surveyed or restored.
- 95,000 acres restored to benefit wildlife, forests, watersheds, and grasslands.
- 3 million trees and shrubs planted...and so much more.
