A nonprofit established by Congress to help the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention do more, faster. The Foundation supports CDC's effort to fight threats to health and safety around the world.
Why do we exist?
Franklin Roosevelt said, "We cannot be a strong nation unless we are a healthy nation." But fostering a healthy nation is a challenge too big for any single organization or agency to accomplish by itself. The CDC Foundation represents a way for individuals to participate in that effort by working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The CDC protects America's health and safety, provides expert information to guide health decisions, and promotes health through strong partnerships.
What have you accomplished?
In less than six years, the CDC Foundation has enabled organizations and individuals to create more than 100 programs to build a healthier world. Among them: fighting the spread of HIV, improving the management of public health, inspiring youth to practice good health and supporting global outreach efforts to the poor. Those who have benefitted range from public health departments in central Asia to a community-based organization in Detroit working to fight AIDS.
