How do you help people in my community?
My Sister's Place helps people in your community by providing community education on domestic violence, providing emergency shelter to victims, and crisis counseling to women in need.
Why do you need my support?
My Sister's Place is a small non-profit organization that relies heavily on volunteers to accomplish many of its services. Last year, volunteers contributed over 5,000 hours to our 24-hour crisis hotline, community education and children's program. Monetary and product donations go directly to benefit the women and children at My Sister's Place. All gifts, monetary and otherwise make a difference and help women rebuild their lives one step at a time.
How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?
Your monetary donations are greatly appreciated and are quadrupled by volunteer support and in-kind donations. 75 cents of every dollar donated to My Sister's Place goes directly to services provided to battered women and their children.
Can I Volunteer? How?
My Sister's Place has a comprehensive volunteer program guaranteed to meet your interests. We have over 150 volunteers that help in each of our five programs. You can receive information about volunteering by calling (202) 529-5261.
