MSP provides a confidential 24-hour hotline (202-529-5991), emergency shelter, transitional housing, supportive programs and community outreach to empower survivors of domestic violence to take control of their own lives.
Why do we exist?
My Sister's Place is an interactive community committed to eradicating domestic violence. We provide safe, confidential shelter; programs; education; and advocacy for battered women and their children. Our goal is to empower women to take control of their lives.
What have you accomplished?
In 1998, we sheltered 61 women and 81 children through our emergency shelter program. We provided transitional housing for 7 women and 15 children. Our 24-hour crisis hotline received 4,029 calls, 1128 of them requesting emergency shelter. Our community Outreach and Education program gave 150 presentations and workshops on domestic violence.
