Providing free commercial airline tickets for low income, seriously ill children who must see a medical specialist far away from home.

Why do we exist?

When a child and his/her family are faced with a serious illness, disease or accident and the medical care needed is not available locally but is available in a location that would require air transportation to reach, what do they do? How do they access the health care they so desperately need? Who has the answers to these questions? Miracle Flights for Kids® has the answers. Miracle Flights for Kids® is a national, non-profit organization committed to providing free air transportation for children and families, in need of highly specialized medical care to the medical facility that provides that care. Our organization was formed to provide a critically necessary, medically related service that is not currently addressed by the health care industry. Without Miracle Flights for Kids®, seriously ill children may not receive the lifesaving treatment that is available in another locale or may experience delays in treatment risking further medical complications. Our Kids suffer from such conditions as cancer, cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy. They require such treatments as open-heart surgery, HBOT treatments, and specialized procedures available only at properly equipped facilities. Most of our Kids require specialized treatment in order to have any quality of life. For many, there would be no hope without Miracle Flights for Kids®. Miracle Flights for Kids® is a unique, innovative flight organization with many resources. Our organization has flown beyond the reach of other flight organizations in its ability to provide free air transportation to sick children no matter how far, or how often, the need arises. Miracle Flights for Kids® receives nearly 40% of its referrals from other flight organizations as they are incapable of flying distances or do not have the means that our organization does to acquire commercial airline tickets.

What have you accomplished?

Our biggest achievement, of which we are very proud, is having coordinated more than 25,000 flights, providing more than 8 million miles of access to health care to individuals, primarily children, in desperate need of air transportation to medical facilities not available in their local area. Many of the children flown by Miracle Flights for Kids® are disadvantaged or are underserved in their local areas. Many of our Kids are disabled; most require specialized treatment in order to have any quality of life. Our Kids suffer from conditions such as heart disease, cancer, cerebral palsy and seizure disorders. They require such treatments as open-heart surgery, HBOT treatments, and advanced chemotherapy regimens. Miracle Flights for Kids® has made a difference in the lives of so many children. For example, as a young boy, Joel was found to have an IGG-3 deficiency in his immune system. His sister, Jenny is autistic. Joel, along with his sister, was successfully flown from the mid-west to California for specialized treatment. For this family of 6 earning less than $26,000, with two children requiring multiple visits to California for specialized medical care, hearing about Miracle Flights for Kids® truly was a “miracle”. Many such heart wrenching stories have resulted in “miracles” due to the efforts of Miracle Flights for Kids® over the last sixteen years.
