Military Ministry provides Bibles, Military Marriage Seminars, Christian Leadership Training, Faith-based PTSD Counseling and more to troops and their families around the world. "Faith in the Foxhole; Hope on the Home Front."
Why do we exist?
The unique character and risks of military life give us a unique ministry. Providing support and encouragement through spiritual resources and training to military members, leaders and families will lead to transformed societies because of the impact and scale of the military community across the world. Our Mission reflects our history as part of the Campus Crusade for Christ team and our special calling to military men, women and families.
The many ways in which we assist chaplains and commanders with caring for the spiritual well-being of troops and their families all focus on the Gospel because “it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes.” (Romans 10:16) We have a tremendous opportunity to come alongside every troop, every leader, every family member and provide them with the Word of God in the form of a Military Ministry Rapid Deployment Kit (RDK) and/or Family Readiness Kit (FRK). Each RDK includes a small camouflage New Testament with Psalms and Proverbs, an Our Daily Bread devotional guide, and a copy of Would You Like to Know God Personally? packaged in a waterproof bag designed to slip into a uniform pocket. Our FRK is distributed to couples and families directly and through chaplains. The FRK is a bundle of books, videos, and other multimedia materials and resources designed to help military families stay on track through Bible-based study, devotions, prayer, and journaling, even when separated because of deployments. Additionally, this year, we will conduct more than twenty Military Marriage Seminars attended by hundreds of couples across the USA and in Europe and Africa. We work closely with Campus Crusade Family Life and Dennis Rainey, Family Life’s leader, to tailor marriage and family materials and seminars for the special situations faced by military couples. Our teams of staff and volunteer leaders develop and lead ongoing HomeBuilders® discipleship groups for couples at many military installation locations around the world. We have begun to build a new ministry to support victims of post-traumatic stress disorder, the ticking time bomb awaiting families re-uniting after long separations and wartime stresses. Our heart’s desire and earnest prayer to God is that they (military men, women, and families) might be saved, be truly ready, spiritually, to face the challenges which will certainly come their way.
You Can Help! Funds are urgently needed to continue this and our other ministries! Your contributions provide spiritual readiness materials to our soldiers and their families.
What have you accomplished?
The Six Pillars, strategic objectives, of Military Ministry together define the groups of people we serve and the scope of our programs and plans:
1. Evangelize and Disciple All Enlisted Members of the US Military. Ministry at each basic training center and beyond. Transform our culture through the US Military.
- Testimony: It was not all that long ago that I was here (at Lackland Air Force Base) going through Basic Training. (My) faith was nourished through your programs, and for that I will never forget what the Military Ministry did for me during that difficult time. I am now enrolling in (college and) pursuing my degree in Christian Ministry.
2. Develop Christian Military Leaders for the 21st Century. Spiritual development of future military officers and enlisted leaders at service academies, hundreds of ROTC universities, and operational locations around the world.
Testimony:
- I came to Texas A&M as a young believer, and through my involvement in Military Ministry, I grew to understand foundational spiritual truths and how to apply them to my life and my mission. I have learned that my career in the military is not just a job, but more importantly an opportunity to transform the military for Christ.
3. Stop the Unraveling of the Military Family. Forge healthy families for the next generation of military children through seminars, resources, and support groups at installations around the world.
Testimony after Family Ministries Military Marriage Seminar:
- For months I have been wanting to leave, thinking there is no hope or no way to help save our marriage, plus I didn't want to do anything to try and save it. Now I am willing to absolutely do anything to keep my husband! You have saved my marriage. Thank you. We've gone from no hope to all kinds of hope! – Wife married 5 years to Army husband
4. Arm Troops in Harm’s Way with Spiritual Resources. A Bible in every foxhole. Resources to empower Chaplains in every Service of the Armed Forces. Networks to keep service members connected during their entire careers. Military Ministry has distributed more than 1.2 million RDK's since September 2001. Requests from chaplains and commanders still average about 25,000 per month. Your help will be greatly appreciated and will make an important difference in spreading the Gospel as the many notes we receive show.
Testimony from chaplain in our “Bibles for the troops” ministries:
- I am in Iraq and giving out many of the RDKs. The soldiers are always itching to get their hands on anything about faith.
Testimony from a troop sending his thanks:
- (In Iraq), the Bible in my Rapid Deployment Kit was the one I had, the only one. Times when we were reading our Bible, the one we got in our kit, it was all the guys sitting around, reading, and it was a big comfort to have that…to read before missions, or even unwinding in our bunks at the end of the day.
5. Global Online Evangelism, Discipleship, and Leader Training for Military Personnel around the world. Each Military Ministry website such as www. God Loves soldiers…Sailors… Airmen…Marines…..com is attracting thousands of military personnel each month. Each site presents the Gospel and allows each visitor to express a decision to accept Christ and be linked to resources and follow-up discipling through a network of trained volunteer counselors who helps them with the next steps to a life with Christ. Last quarter, our Internet outreach was the catalyst for 1808 decisions for Christ! The “Yes rate” for our websites has been nearly 15 percent!
Cyberspace question from visitor to our Internet Outreach websites: I am thinking of enlisting in the Army, and I just need to know if it is a sin to be a soldier and hold a weapon? – Pavel
6. Change Continents for Christ. Working through indigenous military leaders, we help to train, equip and send military members in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin America into their own nations in the name of Jesus.
Testimony from Major General E.S. Mbomah, Chief of the Defense Staff:
- I am very grateful for all the Military Ministry is doing in Sierra Leone to increase the effectiveness of our soldiers.
