How do you help people in my community?
We provide programs and services for the 45,000 people affected by MS in San Diego, Orange and Imperial counties and fund critical research looking for the cause and cure of MS. We offer emotional support, wellness programming, direct assistance, family and social support, education and tools to help people stay independent.
As part of its mission, The National Multiple Sclerosis Society's Pacific South Coast Chapter is committed to providing programs, services, tools, and resources dedicated to improving the quality of life for people living with multiple sclerosis. The Chapter counts among its constituency people with MS, their families and healthcare professionals in Orange, San Diego and Imperial counties.
Our programs and services promote and support knowledge about multiple sclerosis, effective disease management techniques, independence, community involvement, and health care options for all people whose lives are affected by MS.
We offer classes, activities, outreach, support and education programs specially designed to meet the needs of the MS community. Professional trained staff are committed to helping people with MS, family members, caregivers and health care professionals learn about MS, develop effective strategies for symptom management, maintain positive and productive relationships, and live as independently as possible. Last year over 45,000 people turned to the Pacific South Coast Chapter for help and information.

How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?
We are governed by a local Board of Trustees, which are all volunteers invested in the cause of find a cure. We use thousands of volunteers to provide programs and services as well to put on our many special events, which in turn keeps our overhead low. We additionally, hold the Guidestar Seal of Approval, are a member of the local BBB and are a proud member of the United Way.

Can I Volunteer? How?
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Pacific South Coast Chapter is part of a national, voluntary health agency. This means that the Chapter is only as good as the community-minded individuals like you who participate in the administration, governance and support of the Society.
Did you know that Sylvia Lawry organized the Society in 1946? Sylvia was a volunteer! This has not changed in the 21st century. Volunteers sit on the Chapter’s Board of Trustees, organize our special event fundraisers and provide direct service to those living with MS.
Many families throughout Orange, San Diego and Imperial counties count on the Pacific South Coast Chapter to provide services vital to the independent living of their loved ones. Offering this high level of service would be impossible without the assistance of volunteers. To provide the best possible services to those living with MS, the Society does not employ a large staff. However, it does train people like you to do perform any number of tasks that assist in supporting the organization. No matter who you are, or your background, we have a place for you as a volunteer with the National MS Society!
