National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Pacific South Coast Chapter

We serve 23,000 people affected by MS in San Diego, Orange and Imperial Counties, providing education, family programs, emotional support, aquatic exercise, equipment loans and fund $45,000,000 annually in research.

How do you help people in my community?

We provide programs and services for the 18,000 people affected by MS in San Diego, Orange and Imperial counties and fund critical research looking for the cause and cure of MS. We offer emotional support, wellness programming, direct assistance, family and social support, education and tools to help people stay independent.
As part of its mission, The National Multiple Sclerosis Society's Pacific South Coast Chapter is committed to providing programs, services, tools, and resources dedicated to improving the quality of life for people living with multiple sclerosis. The Chapter counts among its constituency people with MS, their families and healthcare professionals in Orange, San Diego and Imperial counties.Our programs and services promote and support knowledge about multiple sclerosis, effective disease management techniques, independence, community involvement, and health care options for all people whose lives are affected by MS.

We offer classes, activities, outreach, support and education programs specially designed to meet the needs of the MS community.  Professional trained staff are committed to helping people with MS, family members, caregivers and health care professionals learn about MS, develop effective strategies for symptom management, maintain positive and productive relationships, and live as independently as possible.   Last year over 18,000 people turned to the Pacific South Coast Chapter for help and information.

Why do you need my support?

 A gift of any size can make a big difference in the lives of those we serve.  The Pacific South Coast Chapter relies upon donations from individuals like you to fund vital research, programs and services to help those living with the disease. (change to 23,000) Your contributions provide funding for 18,000 people in San Diego, Orange and Imperial

Counties living with or affected by multiple sclerosis.

Throughout the year, we receive countless inquiries from Cchapter supporters about the many different ways there are to help the National Multiple Sclerosis Society meets its mission through contributions.

How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?

81 Eighty-three cents from every dollar we raise is spent on local programs and services or research into the cause and cure of MS and on programs .  As a donor you can restrict your gift to be used where you would like it to be used.

Can I Volunteer? How?


The National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Pacific South Coast Cchapter is part of a national, voluntary health agency. This means that the cChapter is only as good as the community-minded individuals like you who participate in the administration, governance and support of the Society. Did you know that Sylvia Lawry organized the Society in 1946? Sylvia was a volunteer! This has not changed in the 21st century. Volunteers sit on the Cchapter’s Bboard of Ttrustees, run organize ourthe special event fundraiserss and provide direct service to those living with MS.

Many families throughout Orange, San Diego and Imperial Ccounties count on the Pacific South Coast Cchapter to provide services vital to the independent living of their loved ones. Offering this high level of service would be impossible without the assistance of volunteers. To provide the best possible services to those living with MS, the Society does not employ a large staff. However, it does train people like you to do perform any number of tasks that assist in supporting the organization.
