Help make equal justice a reality! We provide free legal assistance to low-income Northern Virginia residents with critical civil legal needs including domestic violence, child custody/support, housing, consumer and employment.

How do you help people in my community?

We provide legal assistance to low-income residents of Fairfax, Arlington, Prince William and Loudoun counties and the cities of Alexandria, Falls Church, Fairfax, Manassas and Manassas Park. In addition to our staff of attorneys and paralegals we are fortunate to have over 275 attorneys who volunteer pro bono each year to assist our clients. We represent residents in a number of civil areas to secure their legal rights to basic human needs. Those areas include helping residents who need assistance in seeking legal protection from domestic violence, who need to secure child support and child custody, who are being illegally evicted from their homes, who have been improperly denied disability benefits from the Social Security Administration, who have been wrongfully denied health care coverage, or who have been subject to consumer fraud.

Why do you need my support?

A donation of any size is very helpful. We are unable to meet the overwhelming need for legal assistance for low-income residents of Northern Virginia. We are averaging 286 people per month (3,432 per year) that we turn down. We will use donations to expand our services so that we can assist more residents of Northern Virginia who have critical civil legal needs.

How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?

We have been in existence since 1979 and have a history of providing high-quality legal assistance to Northern Virginia residents. We are audited each year and are monitored by several governmental agencies on a regular basis. Any donor or member of the public is welcome to visit our offices.

Legal Services of Northern Virginia welcomes volunteers. Over 275 persons last year volunteered to assist our clients and us.
