We are an 'extended family' that serves all ages, ethnicities and religions with compassion and caring. We counsel families, support seniors, house the homeless and abused, and feed the hungry.
Why do we exist?
As the first charity to be formed in Los Angeles, we are still responsive to the community’s needs. We help over 60,000 people of all ages, ethnicities, and faiths each year. We feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, help seniors age gracefully, nurture the ill and disabled, resettle immigrants, protect battered women and children, and counsel troubled families. We work with disturbed children and teens, grandparents raising grandchildren, people suffering with dementia, and children with special needs.
What have you accomplished?
Here are just a few samples of our far-reaching and often life saving services. We provided safe shelter for a 23-year old single mother fleeing a violent home. We helped a family buy formula for their newborn triplets and a month’s supply of groceries and personal hygiene supplies. We helped a 5th grade class heal after one of their classmates was killed in a gang-related shooting. We worked with a 7-year old child who had been abused by his uncle. We provided counseling and support to a 75-year old couple who are now raising a 13-year old after her mother (their daughter) committed suicide. We helped an 80-year old blind man remain in the home he loves by providing home-delivered meals, a home care worker and transportation to doctor. We have 60,000 similar stories to tell.
