Essential nursing home care, compassionate Alzheimer's care and highly successful rehab services. Plus retirement living, outpatient services, research. Open to all. Your contribution counts.
How do you help people in my community?
Care that is both skilled and compassionate helps families cope with the challenges of aging. The programs and services of the Hebrew Home are provided on a beautiful campus in Rockville. Our reputation for caring means that people throughout the entire Metropolitan area turn to us when the need arises. Programs are open to all in the community. Last year, we admitted more than 600 new residents and patients to the nursing home.
Why do you need my support?
Contributions from donors like you are essential. Many of our residents, nearly 70%, have exhausted their funds and depend on Medicaid reimbursements which do not cover the full cost of their care. The Hebrew Home relies on contributions from friends in the community to deliver quality care to all residents, to purchase needed equipment and to plan effectively for the future. Right now, we*re planning to expand assisted living and Alzheimer's care programs and facilities to meet growing needs in the community.
Because many of our residents depend on Medicaid and Medicare, we are deeply concerned about caps and potential cuts in these vital programs.
We do need your designated United Way/CFC gift. We also accept used cars as donations. Call 301-770-8339.
How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?
Since 1910, the Hebrew Home has proven itself to be a vital, trustworthy community resource. Providing quality care for our fathers and mothers is never wasteful. A large and active board composed of prominent community leaders oversees the Home*s budget and prog
Can I Volunteer? How?
Absolutely! Join our corps of 1,800 dedicated volunteers of all ages and backgrounds. Retirees, adults, teens and groups are welcome. (By the way, this is a great place for teens who need to meet community service requirements.)
Volunteers visit residents who have no family, help residents get to activities and therapy appointments, play bridge, Scrabble, and poker with residents, entertain, assist in the dining room, do manicures for residents, sew afghans and walker bags, help with office work, deliver flowers and more. Call Hedy Peyser or Linda Cohen at 301-770-8333. We provide a thorough orientation for new volunteers.
