Food & Friends

Food & Friends helps people with HIV/AIDS and other life-challenging illnesses by providing home-delivered, freshly prepared meals and groceries and nutrition counseling free of charge.

How do you help people in my community?

Food & Friends delivers meals and groceries free of charge to individuals and families living within a 6,300 square mile area throughout Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia. We currently have over 1,000 clients.  Our new facility at 219 Riggs Road gives us the capacity to serve 3,000. AIDS continues to be a disease that affects increasing numbers of women, people of color, and those who are living in extreme poverty.  Of all of Food & Friends' clients, 80% of them have an income of under $1,001 per month; and 49% have an income of under $550 per month.

Why do you need my support?

Food & Friends is made possible by the generosity of people in the community- some give time, some give money and all make sure that the people in our community that live with life-challenging illnesses receive fresh, nutritious food.

You can help by giving. Give us a call at (202) 269-6880. Over 50% of our funding comes from individual donors just like you.

You can help by volunteering.  Give us a call at (202) 269-6824 to find our more information or visit us on the web at www.foodandfriends.org.

You can help by organizing a food drive.  We are in need of non-perishable canned goods for our grocery pantry.  Please give us a call at (202) 269-6829 for more information.

There are other ways you can help, attend an event, donate your car or designate us in your CFC/UW campaign #8429.  If you have a special skill and some extra time, give us a call and we’ll put you to work. Call (202) 269-2277.

How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?

Food & Friends voluntarily undergoes an annual audit conducted by the accounting firm Drolet & Associates. We are financially sound and fiscally responsible.

Can I Volunteer? How?

Volunteers are always needed at Food & Friends.  If you have a special skill and some extra time, give us a call and we’ll put you to work. Please call (202) 269-2277 for more information.
