Feed The Children provides food, medicine, clothing, educational materials and other essentials to children and their families domestically and internationally.
How do you help people in my community?
Through the generosity of committed partners, Feed The Children delivers necessities to children and their families every day. We work closely with caring corporate partners that donate surplus food and other supplies, as well as with individual donors who help defray the cost of transporting the product donations.
These supplies are then delivered to pre-approved, independent partner agencies that, in turn, distribute them through a network of more than 50,000 feeding centers, homeless shelters, churches and various other organizations located in communities throughout the United States. Individuals and groups can also sponsor a food distribution, during which boxes of food and supplies are given directly to families in need.
In 2009, Feed The Children established the Americans Feeding Americans Caravan to help families across the country who have been affected by the economic downturn. An estimated 200,000 families across the United States are targeted to receive assistance by the end of 2010.
Why do you need my support?
Our mission is to deliver food, medicine, clothing and other necessities to individuals, children and families who lack these essentials due to famine, war, poverty or natural disasters. We procure, collect and distribute food and other supplies to children and families in need across the United States and around the world.
How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?
At Feed The Children, our pledge to you is to be effective in our outreach to those in need by being good stewards of the funds entrusted to us. Our fund distribution is broken down into the following categories:
• 92% is directed to program services (child care, food, medical, disaster relief, education and community development); • 5% is directed to fund raising; and • 3% is directed to management and supporting services.
Can I Volunteer? How?
There are many ways to help children and families in need through Feed The Children. One way is to coordinate a special project on behalf of Feed The Children. This special project can be a food drive to collect supplies or a fundraiser to generate donations for one of Feed The Children’s programs. Many groups often have a goal of raising enough money to sponsor a truckload of food for a specific area in need.
