Farm Animal Reform Movement (FARM)

For the past 35 years, FARM has been the leading advocate of meat-free eating to prevent animal cruelty, preserve our natural environment and enhance public health.

Why do we exist?

FARM exists because 98% of ALL abused animals are farmed animals. Although most consumers deplore the conditions animals are kept in on factory farms, 98% continue to eat meat and other products of animal agribusiness. Farmed animals desperately need someone to speak up for them and end the cruel confinement and slaughter, which is why FARM has made it our mission to do just that.

FARM’s unique focus is changing diets through public education, saving animals one compassionate meal at a time. Our mission to save animals from factory farm and slaughterhouse cruelty not only improves animal welfare, but also has the added benefit of reducing global warming, protecting the planet, and advancing public health.

FARM not only helps animals, we also advocate policies and decisions that have an impact on family health and nutrition, air quality, and water quality. No other organization promotes such an effective mix of strategies that have a broad-reaching impact on billions of sentient beings, human health, and the planet as a whole.

What have you accomplished?

Through our focus on dietary education, FARM has been incredibly effective at alleviating animal suffering. When just one individual adopts a vegan diet, more than 6,000 animals are saved over the course of a lifetime. FARM has been active since 1976 and can claim credit for saving hundreds of thousands of animals’ lives through changing hearts and minds about consuming animal products.

National dietary trends are directly connected to FARM’s work educating the public about the health and environmental benefits of a compassionate diet. More than 30 million Americans have explored a meat-free diet and the number is growing every year.

Consumption of cruel products like veal has dropped 70%. Meat-free and dairy-free meals are now readily available in major supermarkets. Mainstream health organizations, including the American Heart Association and American Cancer Society, and the federal government regularly promote plant-based food choices. Thanks to our advocacy work, greening your diet has never been easier!

FARM consistently receives feedback from people whose lives have been changed by the information we provide. Kicking the meat habit reduces the risk of heart disease, stroke, cancer, and other chronic diseases that cripple and kill nearly 1.4 million Americans annually, and we have a multitude of testimonials from those who have thanked FARM for their improved health. Our office also fields numerous inquiries about vegan nutrition, saving thousands of animals’ lives.
