Touching the lives of the poor by designing orphanages, schools, medical clinics, water and sanitation projects. Admin percentage with volunteer time is 7.1%. "Designing a World of Hope."
How do you help people in my community?
We empower engineers and architects in your community to help a world in need, by giving their skills to design facilities that improve people’s lives.
Why do you need my support?
A $10 gift to our operating fund mobilizes $110 of engineering design services to help the poor in developing countries. See more information on this “return on investment” at http://www.emiusa.org/sponsor.html.
Our capacity grows each year as we add new staff and open new offices around the world. Our long-range vision is to open an office on each continent to better serve ministries working in that part of the world. We donate our services rather than charge for them. We mobilize volunteers to do our work. Our staff raise their salary costs in donations to keep overhead down. This is what makes us unique.
How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?
Our model depends on volunteer engineers and architects who demand accountability, efficiency and precision in our financial matters. We conduct a yearly independent audit of our financial operations by Capin Crouse LLP Accountants, and make our financial statements, tax returns and executive salaries publicly available on our website, www.emiusa.org. We are members of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability, a highly-respected watchdog organization for Christian organizations. We are also a Four-Star rated charity by Charity Navigator (www.charitynavigator.org), one of the nation’s leading charity rating services. Finally, our overhead is consistently around 10%- that means for every dollar you give, about 90 cents of it goes towards our aid programs.
Can I Volunteer? How?
Absolutely. Our service model relies on volunteers to provide practical aid to people in need. Sign-up for one of our two-week overseas design trips at www.emiusa.org.
