Make a life-changing difference to destitute children around the world.  Your donation provides life's essentials -- food, medical care, educational assistance, shoes, clothing and more -- to 335,000 impoverished children in 11 countries including the U.S.

Why do we exist?

Children International’s mission is to bring real and lasting change to children living in poverty. In partnership with contributors, we reduce their daily struggles, invest in their potential, and provide them with the opportunity to grow up healthy, educated and prepared to succeed and contribute to society.

Our vision is that every child graduates from our program as a healthy, educated, self-reliant adult with the ability and drive to break free from poverty while improving their own communities.

What have you accomplished?

The Children International® Sponsorship Program helps children living in some of the worst conditions imaginable, children who have little support or chance for a better life. Our organization gives them opportunity by providing them with critical services, material benefits and educational support to help them create brighter futures for themselves.

From the time children first enter the program between the ages of 2 and 9 to the time they graduate at the age of 19, they receive vital necessities and benefits that foster their growth and development, such as:

• Regular medical exams, nutritional screenings, follow-up care and medicine
• Dental screenings and treatment
• Educational assistance like school supplies, uniforms and help with tuition and school fees
• New clothing and shoes
• Youth programs to build leadership skills and self-esteem
• Scholarships for university or vocational training.

Children International also helps families and entire communities by providing:

• Anti-parasite treatments for at-risk sponsored children, their families and communities
• Education on proper hygiene and sanitation
• Basic household items, including cooking utensils, cleaning supplies, sheets and blankets and water storage containers
• Home-repair materials and emergency assistance after natural disasters
• Good-quality housing and clean, safe drinking water when donations allow.

Children International is proud to report that we provided the following benefits to sponsored children and their families in 2010:

• 99,746 dental exams
• 598,332 anti-parasite treatments
• 43,411 hygiene kits
• 319,868 school-supply kits
• 955,649 new articles of clothing
• 333,712 pairs of shoes
• 106,000 school uniforms
• 92,038 backpacks
