More than 30 programs serving all faiths in San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin Counties. Programs include family housing; support for immigrants, seniors and people with HIV/AIDS; counseling; childcare and youth athletics/camp.
How do you help people in my community?
• Provides family housing and homelessness prevention support for over 600 San Francisco families through emergency, transitional and permanent housing and support services. These programs stabilize homeless families and those at-risk of becoming homeless through a web of support that includes housing, meals, counseling, case management, medical care, job search support, children’s activities, education and job-readiness. • Serves thousands of children through subsidized childcare centers and after school programs that provide high quality educational day care, enriched curricula and activities, and family support services to low-income, homeless, and otherwise marginalized working families. • Serves 25% percent of the HIV/AIDS population in San Francisco and provides over 200,000 nights of housing for people living with disabling HIV/AIDS this year and every year since 1995. • Was a first responder to the AIDS epidemic in 1985, and continues to be one of the largest HIV/AIDS service providers on the West Coast. • Helps families and individuals via counseling services offered to residents in San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin counties. These services reduce incidences of child abuse and domestic abuse, depression, alcohol and substance abuse, marital strife, grief and loss, and homelessness. CCCYO is the only Bay Area agency that will provide this type of help regardless of the client’s ability to pay. • Provides summer camp and environmental education for young people from all over the Bay Area. • Assists immigrants and refugees already living in the Bay Area in becoming fully active participants in the social and civic life of our communities. Basic services such as providing access to clothing, shelter and healthcare are offered, along with resources that lead to economic self-sufficiency, such as ESL education, employment services, and job readiness and retention skills.
Why do you need my support?
Catholic Charities CYO obtains approximately 59% of its annual operating budget through government funding sources. The remaining 41% is provided through fundraising in the local community, appeals, bequests and program fees. As government funding is compromised by state and federal budget cuts, donations from concerned and caring individuals take on more and more importance. The future of our organization and that of the 40,000 people we serve lies in the generosity of individuals in our community who share our vision to take action when others are suffering. We not only need your support, we rely on it. Catholic Charities CYO operates as an independent non-profit organization and is the social service agency of the San Francisco Archdiocese and does not in any way contribute money to or receive money from the Catholic Church.
How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?
Catholic Charities CYO is non-profit organization registered in the State of California under section 501(c)3 of the IRS code and our financial statements are audited and verified annually by an independent certified public accounting firm, RINA Accountancy Corporation. 89% of every dollar donated goes directly into our programs.
Can I Volunteer? How?
Volunteers are the heart of our agency and have the power to change lives and impact communities. Donating time, even if it is just a small amount, can create lasting effects in the lives of the individuals and families we serve. Volunteers help us carry out our mission of supporting families; aging and disabled adults and youth by providing essential services within our programs. Catholic Charities CYO could not touch as many lives every year without our volunteers’ incredible support!
