Challenger Center for Space Science Education

Using the exciting medium of space exploration, our mission is to create positive experiences for students that inspire them to pursue studies and careers in science, engineering and technology.

How do you help people in my community?

More than 50 Challenger Learning Centers can be found throughout the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.  On average, five new Challenger Learning Centers open each year.  Each Learning Center is encouraged to customize their programs to address the specific educational needs of their community.

Additionally, many of our public outreach programs are offered at little or no cost to communities in the United States.  The Challenger family members stated in their first mission statement that all programs emphasize the incorporation and encouragement of females, minorities, and the underprivileged in the sciences.

A complete list of Challenger Learning Centers can be found on the organization web site at www.challenger.org. You are encouraged to call our toll free number (800-969-5747) if you have additional questions.

Why do you need my support?

Challenger Center greatly appreciates the support of our donors.  Donations from supporters are used to fund a variety of projects and programs, including curriculum development, community outreach programming, and teacher training.

Our mission is to create a scientifically literate population that can thrive in a world increasingly driven by information and technology.  Our vision for the future is a global community where today’s students command their own destinies by using higher order thinking skills, the lessons of teamwork, and strong communication frameworks.  That vision is based on a realistic assessment of the skills needed for success in the 21st Century.

How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?

Challenger Center has a low overhead rate of 11.5%.  In addition to strong leadership that emphasizes the quality of our products and programs, the organization also participates in annual audits.  The development of new classroom materials and programs is researched and planned carefully to maximize the use of funds for the best possible outcome.  Your gifts will support our mission directly.

Can I Volunteer? How?
