Breathe California of Los Angeles County (BREATHE LA)

BREATHE LA is dedicated to clean air and healthy lungs. Our programs and services include environmental education, lung health research, teen quit smoking and asthma management programs.

How do you help people in my community?

BREATHE LA O24u Environmental Education Program served 4,000 children in Los Angeles County in 2008, providing them tools to become effective environmental stewards for their generation.
BREATHE LA 4-U-N-I high school students created two animated PSAs posted on YouTube and partnered with UCLA research study on teen smoking cessation. The students are now preparing to expand the 4-U-N-I Teen Quit Smoking program to other campuses throughout Los Angeles County.
BREATHE Lung Power Asthma Control Program, developed through BREATHE LA Center for Healthy Lungs research, was launched in Los Angeles in 2008 and will serve hundreds of children and families in 2008 -2009.
BREATHE LA Center for Healthy Lungs has awarded grants totaling $240,000 to lung health researchers in Los Angeles.
BREATHE LA COPD Latino Initiative and COPD research offers innovative programs to improve quality of life for adults and seniors in East Los Angeles with lung disease
BREATHE LA provides a voice for clean air advocacy and tobacco cessation efforts in Los Angeles and Southern California.
BREATHE LA Pollution & Solutions Salon Series gathers community, legislative and industry leaders for discussions that can help to create a clean air future for Los Angeles.
BREATHE LA provides students with community service volunteer opportunities and internships and welcomes community members to serve as volunteers in a variety of meaningful capacities.

Why do you need my support?

Donations fund programs that allow school children to envision their role in a clean air future, provide culturally sensitive and language appropriate materials to families whose children have asthma, and allows children with asthma to take charge of their condition by teaching them how to effective control and communicate with caregivers about asthma. Small donations are exceptionally powerful for BREATHE LA programs and services because they provide an intimate reach between donor and program effectiveness, and allow us to BREATHE as we grow to serve and ever-more diverse community.
BREATHE LA is dedicated to clean air and healthy lungs. BREATHE with us!

How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?

BREATHE LA is a Guidestar Charity posting annual 990 forms for public review. BREATHE LA has over 100 hundred years of achievement in service to our community.
