Strengthening African initiatives for self-sufficiency through grassroots health, clean water, education, orphanages, vocational training, agriculture and micro-credit enterprise programs focusing on women and children.
Why do we exist?
We are a small, effective direct services charity working in many African nations as a partner with local African community efforts. We help African people solve their communities’ hardships through education, health services, and self-sufficiency projects. That is what makes us unique – we do not simply advise people on what they should do, but work with them to actually resolve their unique problems in both the short and long term.
What have you accomplished?
We have a wonderful orphanage, farm and school in Eldoret, Kenya that we have been supporting for eleven years with significant funding. This program is becoming self-sufficient through the sale of farm produce to supplement the funding needed to run the orphanage and to expand the school, which has become one of the best primary schools Kenya has to offer. The home currently cares for 110 orphaned or abandoned children, the school offers education to 188 children, and the farm provides jobs for about 100 people in the local community.
One of the home’s former children, Irene Chepto, is now around 40 years old and a manager with the cereal board of Kenya. She is also on a national anti-corruption board as a vice-chairperson. She was brought to the home when she was about 9 years old after her parents were killed in an ethnic conflict in Uganda. Had it not been for the home, she may not be alive and able to help Kenya fight its government corruption today.
