How do you help people in my community?
Birthline helps with COMPLETELY free services in San Diego County and serves at two local centers; 3660 Clairemont Dr., San Diego, CA 92117, and the Chula Vista Center located at 1220 Third Avenue #1, Chula Vista, CA, 91911.
Why do you need my support?
Birthline needs your support to continue to reach out and serve the needs of the many pregnant women and women with small children who do not have family support nor qualify for assistance with other social agencies. Although Birthline is a small group with only some 50 volunteers, we make a tremendous difference in the lives of our clients and their children nurturing, educating and providing them with essential emotional and material support to survive.
Birthline has several hundred supporters in San Diego who believe in LIFE and want to partner with us to bring our philosophy and goal more into view; to make possible that “it is the right of every pregnant woman to give birth, and the right of every child to be born” without any political, or religious agenda.
How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?
You can be sure that money donated to Birthline will not be wasted or inappropriately spent because Birthline has a Board of Directors selected from all different walks of life, and religious backgrounds who come together to make decisions and guide the organization in a Christian manner. We are known for doing great things with very little money with very low overhead expenses. Birthline volunteers and supporters want to make a difference in the San Diego Community by providing service and resources that support “life”. Birthline is a “stand alone” non-profit, non-political organization and is not affiliated with any other organization and or religious group. In addition, Birthline has a terrific track record in the San Diego Community. All major social agencies refer clients to Birthline. A few of them are ; County of San Diego Health & Human Services Agencies, local hospitals, WIC, Options for Recovery/UCSD, local hospitals, the Probation Department of San Diego, Black Infant Health, Catholic Charities, St. Vincent de Paul Shelter, Community Christian Service Agency, and Alliance for African Assistance, Etc.
Can I Volunteer? How?
If you believe that every pregnant woman should develop the kinds of bonds that will allow her to know she has someone she can count on, someone who will give her the best advice, who will expect the most from her and with whom she can celebrate life then consider becoming a Birthline volunteer. Excellent training for “friendship counseling” is provided and shifts are available Monday through Friday for three hours a day. Birthline’s staff remains anonymous, using only their first names with no personal contact with clients outside the center. Birthline centers are pleasant and convenient to reach and are located on bus lines. Please contact Birthline’s Home Office by writing Birthline at P.O. Box 178421, San Diego, CA 92177, contacting us through the Birthline website at www.birthineofsandiego.org or calling (858) 270-2491.
