Bible League

Sending God's Word into action, helping local churches worldwide unleash the Bible's power to lead people into a relationship with Jesus Christ and transform lives.

Why do we exist?

The Bible League meets the great need for Bibles worldwide by strategically placing Bibles in the hands of people through Bible studies and church planting. We do not distribute Bibles at random. Rather, we emphasize discipleship. We want to see new believers become active church members. We train and equip indigenous Christians to use the Bible, to lead Bible studies, to make disciples, and to establish churches where none exist.

We work through local churches, empowering them by providing Scriptures and training. Local church leaders disciple people in small group Bible studies. Those who complete the Bible studies receive not only Bibles but also the training to share God’s Word with more people. In many countries we have Bible studies for both adults and children.

In most of the countries where the Bible League is working, we could easily double or triple our efforts and impact if we had the resources to do so. For example, in Africa there are an estimated 200 million Christians still waiting for their own Bible. In Indonesia, there are approximately 2,400 people a day making commitments to Christ, and about half of these new believers will not have access to a Bible.

What have you accomplished?

The 2006 worldwide Bible impact through the ministry of Bible League was:
a. 19,347,455 Scriptures provided
b. 3,296,686 Bible study completions
c. 210,654 Bible study groups
d. 423,163 new church members/baptisms
e. 5,807 new churches established

A story from China -
Summer is totally committed to serving the Lord, but it wasn’t always so. He says, “When I was young I did not believe in God. In China, if you say ‘I believe in Jesus,’ many people will look down on you.” But his outlook changed when Summer’s father became desperately ill. He had heard that if his family believed in Jesus, his father would recover. “In the beginning, we believed for a very selfish reason so that our father would be cured,” Summer says. “But my understanding was shallow, and I had no direct relationship with God.”

Still, he faithfully attended church, and a Bible League-trained Christian helped him to study the New Testament. One day, while reading Romans, he understood! All at once, as Summer explains, “God gave me a clear command to come out and serve Him. But to do that, I needed the Bible just like a baby needs milk—this is what every Christian needs.”

Except, in China there are not enough Bibles. “Where I work, so many people have no Bible—most never even see one,” Summer says. Summer knows there are people around the world who care about him and his Christian brothers and sisters, and he prays for their help. “Please help us in the spreading of the Gospel—it must be heard everywhere in China. Pray that believers will get Bibles and good teachers. We in China pray for the Church all over the world, that many people will receive Jesus’ message.”

How do you help people in my community? Why do you need my support?
How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it? Can I Volunteer? How?
