Baptist World Alliance

Cares for the hungry and homeless of the world by providing food, medicine, encouragement and hope. Defends the oppressed and persecuted by promoting human rights and religious freedom.

How do you help people in my community?

The Baptist World Alliance is a global movement of Baptists to change the world and minister to others.  We help people in every part of the world by working through existing networks and organizations with knowledge and contacts already in place to help people improve the lives of those in each community.

In addition to aid and emergency help, we provide theological libraries for pastors in areas without access to education, we train churches how to reach out to their communities, we bring together Baptist leaders from around the world to share their ministries and learn from one another, we use our 22 seats on United Nations NGO committees to be a voice for freedom of faith in the world, we go to places where Christians are persecuted to investigate, inform, and encourage the persecuted, we provide aid through reliable indigenous channels, we encourage local economic development to alleviate poverty, we bring theologians together to address the issues of the day, and we promote peace and fellowship with days of prayer for our churches throughout the year.

Why do you need my support?

There is so much need, and such urgency to help those suffering the most. The problems seem too large but with everyone contributing what they can, there will be enough to change lives for the better.  Your prayers and gifts, however small, when pooled with those from our other friends, can determine whether or not we can feed a child, dig a well, and provide HIV/AIDS medicines.

Christians are being forced from their churches and communities and Bibles are being burned.  We want to stop suffering and stand up to persecution.  And you can help by supporting programs that give local people the tools to provide help in their own communities.
You, your church or Baptist organization may like to become a mission partner of the Alliance.

For a small annual donation, you can support the Alliance and share in our ministries around the world.  For a membership application, please call our Member Services at our office: 703-790-8980, ext. 171, or bwa@bwanet.org.

How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?

We are open to your questions and provide independently audited financial statements each year.

Our administrative expenses, including fundraising for 2010 is less than 5%  Our annual report and the most recent audits are available on our website or by request by calling 703-790-8980 x 171.
