Amor Ministries, Inc.

Amor works to meet the needs of the poor in Mexico through providing new homes for over 1,200 families per year. Also providing food, school supplies and other basic needs.

Why do we exist?

An estimated 40% of Mexico's population lives below the poverty line, and nearly 10% of the population subsists on less than $1 per day. With inadequate housing, many families suffer poor health, lack of education, and an inability to meet basic needs within the family.Amor exists to respond to these needs by providing opportunities for groups and individuals to get involved in improving the lives of the poor in Mexico. You can help Amor provide:

  • over 1,000 new homes for families in need per year
  • food through our food bank
  • backpacks full of supplies for school-aged children
  • family sponsorship opportunities

What have you accomplished?

Amor has helped over 12,000 families receive homes since 1980, and continues to build over 1,000 new homes each year. Since the homes cost the families nothing, this free gift has helped many provide a stable family environment, get children back into school, and create a foundation for health and wellness in the family.

Gilberto and Lilia Mexica Hoyos of the community Rancho 3 de Octubre recently experienced the joy of a home. With 3 sons and 1 daughter, Gilberto and Lilia used to live in a one-room shack with an inadequate leaky roof and unstable make-shift walls to sheild themselves from the outside elements. Their daughter was born with spinal bifida and needs constant medical care and assistance. Because of their new home, they have become passionate about sharing their blessing in the community.

Gilberto told Amor, "If you don't live to serve, you live for nothing." Lilia offered, "I want to do more for my community. If there are more families that can benefit from receiving a house, I want to be there to direct them to the right place. There are still many families who are in need of our help."

"Because Gilberto was at work, I was the one who dealt with our Amor friends the most. I helped them as much as I could, cooking them whatever I had to offer. They would talk with me, and I with them. They gave us so much love. They poured out their love to us. We as a family want to reflect that same love and be like them by giving back."

How do you help people in my community? Why do you need my support?
How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it? Can I Volunteer? How?
