Alley Cat Allies

Alley Cat Allies is the only national organization dedicated to protecting and improving cats' lives. Help us transform the way our society and shelter system cares for cats!

How do you help people in my community?

Alley Cat Allies has helped tens of thousands of individuals protect and improve the lives of millions of cats and kittens in cities and towns across the nation. We have motivated and assisted scores of grassroots activists to establish feral cat groups in their communities, and they in turn have mobilized and pushed for reform of their city’s animal control policies and procedures. Veterinarians, wildlife biologists, humane organizations, animal control agencies, and animal shelters frequently turn to us for guidance and information in their efforts to transform their practices and develop humane programs and policies for cats.

Why do you need my support?

We need your support to continue our informational and educational campaigns that empower people to protect and improve cats’ lives in their own communities. Most of the gifts we receive are under $20 and because of our broad base of support, every gift, no matter the size, makes a big difference.

How do we do it?
• We share our expertise, materials, and resources to teach people how to care for stray and feral cats in their communities;
• We provide advice and models to help citizens, organizations, and communities implement Trap-Neuter-Return programs and neuter initiatives;
• We research and disseminate information from which policies and programs that benefit cats can be developed; and
• We advocate for programs that are in the best interest of the cats and speak out against harmful policies and practices.

How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?

Our financial records are scrutinized and approved using the highest industry standards by an independent auditor as well as our Board of Directors. At Alley Cat Allies, we make every dollar count. From every dollar we receive, 78˘ goes toward educational and outreach programs, with only 5˘ used for administration, and 17˘ spent on fundraising—markers we have maintained for well over six years. Alley Cat Allies is very proud of these figures!

Can I Volunteer? How?

We look for volunteers across the country. Our Every Kitty – Every City program is an effort to create much needed, life-saving strategies in targeted locations nationwide. As part of this program, we have volunteer opportunities in Atlantic City, NJ, Baltimore, MD, Chicago, IL, New Orleans, LA, and the Washington, DC area. Additionally, we always welcome volunteers in our Bethesda, MD headquarters office. Visit our website to learn more about these opportunities today. www.alleycat.org/volunteer
