Adoption and Humanitarian Aid - MAPS

An accredited nonprofit agency providing humanitarian aid to children and families in the U.S. and abroad including adoption, orphanage support, educational/medical sponsorships and shelters for parenting young women.

How do you help people in my community?

We are licensed in Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont, Connecticut, Florida and Colorado, where we can provide full services for adoption. We also network with agencies all over the U.S. and can help families abroad do an adoption.

We have programs in several locations that enable teens and women with unplanned pregnancies to receive services while they are in this most difficult time.

Why do you need my support?

Here are three of the many projects we are currently developing or continuing to develop and your donation will go a long way in helping the less unfortunate children, women and families in the world. These projects will enhance the quality of life for these less fortunate.

A program called ASHA in India, is a passion of ours and is on-going. The objective of this program is to provide assistance and appropriate aid to women and children who have been physically and/or sexually abused. Their aim is to “uplift” and “empower” women and to make them self-reliant. Your donation will go towards, counseling, training and education for these women and their children.

We have a strong presence in Vietnam and are participating in the building of a center to house babies and children with HIV. We have committed an amount towards this new project and more will be needed. These children will not be available for adoption but they need to grow up somewhere. God only knows what the future holds for them.

Our third project is in Sierra Leone, West Africa, reported to be the poorest country on the face of the earth, where we have worked for five years, some of that time through a bloody civil war. Because of the long-term poverty and the current civil war, the needs are enormous. We are collaborating with another U.S. non-governmental organization (NGO) to build a center to support orphans from the displaced camps as well as street orphans who were used by the rebels and then turned loose.

As our name suggests, we are an adoption agency. But adoption can serve only a minute portion of the entire problem in any country. What makes us different is our passion for humanitarian work and helping the children left behind.

How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?

Our policy has always been that 100% of your donation goes to whatever project you so designate. From our CEO on down, we are always available to answer any questions pertaining to your contribution and where it will go. Our annual audit reflects a 1% overhead.

Can I Volunteer? How?

We are always looking for volunteers to help with different projects. Our Sponsorship Programs are always run by volunteers but there is more to be done. If you live close to one of our offices, call and offer your services. They’ll jump at it. If you do not live close, you can hold a fundraiser for a certain project, collect clothes and toys (like new) for the children, collect medicines, books, etc.
