The Arc of San Diego empowers persons with disabilities by creating opportunities to fulfill their personal goals, reach their maximum potential and live as independently as possible.
How do you help people in my community?
The Arc of San Diego provides comprehensive services from birth to seniors for people with disabilities. These services help people with disabilities fulfill their personal goals, reach their maximum potential, and live as independently as possible. This could range from simple living skills such as grooming, dental hygiene, and nutrition to more complex skills such as money management or planning a route on public transportation. The Arc of San Diego believes that people with disabilities have unlimited potential and the right to equality of opportunity. The Arc of San Diego is committed to making a difference in the lives of people with disabilities by providing resources for them to choose and realize their dreams in a very practical way. These include community living services and recreation opportunities.
Why do you need my support?
Although we receive government funding, this revenue does not fully cover all of the costs necessary to provide quality programs for children and adults with disabilities. The difference is made up primarily by donations. We rely on private donations to ensure that services continue to be available to those we serve.
How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?
At The Arc of San Diego only 8.24 % of the total expense budget is for administrative/overhead and fundraising expenses. This low overhead ensures that more dollars directly benefit people with disabilities. We can also provide you with our agency-wide annual wish list so you can choose a specific item or program. Pictures and receipts for items purchased can be provided at the donor's request.
Can I Volunteer? How?
You can volunteer on one of our Chapter Advisory Boards, become a member of our Board of Directors, join a committee, or assist on special projects. You need not live in San Diego to volunteer your services or resources.
