Autism Intervention and Treatment Research -- Organization for Autism Research

Our research and information programs open life's opportunities for children and adults with autism. We are dedicated to helping parents find answers to the challenges of lifelong care.

How do you help people in my community?

We are a national organization that strives to provide resources through our research and information programs to all members of the national autism community, including individuals with autism, parents, educators, and care providers.

Why do you need my support?

We believe that families of children and adults with autism pay enough as they struggle to fund expensive therapies and treatments throughout their children’s lives.  That is why we provide all our publications for free, ask no membership fees, and set the standard for one of the lowest conference costs in the autism community.  To do this, while always pushing to annually increase the number of major grants we make, we rely on the support of our donors; each one matters, from the smallest monthly contribution and on.  Consider this: a contribution of only $25.00/month will allow us to get our free autism guide for parents into the hands of 150 families.  Or, it provides nearly 1/3 the cost of funding a graduate student’s research study.

How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?

We rely on a small staff of four, as well as volunteers, to run all of OAR’s research and information programs, special events, and day to day operations.  We do this because we believe that the money we raise is best spent on the community we serve.  It is a belief our Board of Directors, as members of this community, hold dear.  Each Director is a parent, grandparent, or relative of a child or adult with autism and each knows the vital need for resources in the autism research community.  In addition, we are independently audited and have received an opinion of good financial standing every year since our founding.

Can I Volunteer? How?

We are always looking for volunteers to lend a hand at the special fundraising events we hold throughout the year, as well as volunteers to help in the office with clerical and administrative tasks.  You can sign up to be on our volunteer list by going to www.ResearchAutism.org and joining the email list, and choosing the “Volunteer Opportunities” interest category.
