The Beacon House Association of San Pedro

The Beacon House helps men to recover from alcoholism and addiction. We help men find a new life in sobriety and service to the community.

How do you help people in my community?

While we are located in the community of San Pedro our reach goes far and wide.  Each man we help returns to his own community and immediately a positive effect is achieved.   No one is ever turned away or refused help for lack of funds.  If the person is an alcoholic and drug addict and wants help we will help him. Beacon House will also help an individual find a program if we are unable to take him in due to lack of space.  One other way we have helped our community is by becoming a resource for education and awareness about the process of recovery from alcoholism and addiction.  We have a program in place that provides speakers to community groups, churches, youth groups that we can schedule for classes and events.

Why do you need my support?

For one dollar we can provide one meal to one resident; for $10 we can provide three meals and house one man for one day.  No amount is too small to make a difference in life a man.

Our biggest program expenses are food, shelter and counseling services for the men.  Unless otherwise specified we use donations to help us provide these services.

We make a difference in the future by making a difference in the life our men today.  If we can help our men learn how to stay clean and sober, take care of themselves and at the same time help others we believe that this will effect lives of those they come in contact with.  Our men are our greatest asset and it is because of the change in their lives that others see that we have been able to help others.

Our vision is to provide the best residential recovery services to those who are looking for help.  We want to provide low cost, effective and meaningful recovery experiences for our men, their family and the community which we serve.

Beacon House is mission driven by which we mean that our one and only purpose is to help those who suffer from alcoholism.  In our 41 years of existence we have not waivered from this purpose.  We have changed and adapted our program over time to make sure we are keeping up with the times and that we adopt proven strategies to address alcoholism and addiction in an effective and proven way.

How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?

First of all we only use donations for the stated purpose we receive them for.  We have a low administrative overhead.  Beacon House is audited annually by an independent accountant and we submit annual IRS 990 Reports as required by law.  Our board of directors meets monthly and approves our monthly financial statements to assure proper use of funds.  All meetings of the Board of Directors are open to the public and financial reports are available upon request.
